SRA was founded in 2000 by broadcaster
and historian Dr Nick Barratt. Dr Barratt is the CEO and
heads the agency. Every team member has a background in
history. The agency was designed to undertake all aspects
of professional, legal, academic and media research. Since
launch to present date, SRA has become a widely recognised
agency that is the primary resource for production companies
requiring historical research.
SRA is the premier research agency behind
the BAFTA nominated BBC TV Series Who Do You Think You Are?
(BBC1, BBC2) that looks at celebrities tracing their family
history, as well as the BAFTA nominated BBC2 Series Seven
Wonders of the Industrial World. SRA has also undertaken
the research for Face of Britain (Channel 4, 2007), Hidden
House Histories (The History Channel), House Detectives (BBC2)
History Mysteries (BBC2), Not Forgotten (Channel 4), Britains
Best Buildings (BBC 2), So You Think Youre Royal (Sky One),
Wreck Detectives, You Dont Know Youre Born (ITV1), The Face
of Britain (Channel 4), Empires Children (Channel 4) as well
as various other TV series, newspaper and magazine articles.
SRA was also responsible for the research for the Irish version
of Who Do You Think You Are, which is currently airing on
RTE1 and undertook the UK side of the Australian version of
Who Do You Think You Are? which aired on SBS in Australia
in Feburary 2008.
SRA is based in London and researchers primarily
work at archives and libraries within greater London. Archives
include The National Archives (TNA), The Family Records Centre
(FRC), British Library (BL), and The London Metropolitan Archives
(LMA). SRA also undertakes research throughout the UK, and
Ireland depending on the nature of your project. It has developed
